Finding the right pre-loved designer bag takes a bit of hunting. The good ones — a barely-used Chanel Classic Flap, a Hermès Kelly in decent condition, a Bottega Veneta Pouch in that discontinued shade — get picked up fast. What you need is somewhere that sources continuously, authenticates properly, and prices things based on what they're actually worth on the current market.
CSD has been buying and selling second hand designer bags from our London stores since we opened on Marylebone Lane. Authentication isn't something we outsource or do cursorily. Every bag — whether it's a £300 Mulberry or a £5,000 Hermès — goes through the same in-house check before it goes on sale. We look at the stitching, the hardware, the date codes, the serial numbers. The things that tell the real story about a bag's origins.
The collection covers what's genuinely worth buying preloved. Chanel classic flaps, cameras and Boy bags — we get new pieces regularly and they move fast, so check back if you miss one. Louis Vuitton Neverfulls, Speedys and Pochettes; LV monogram and damier hold up extremely well over time, which is part of why the second hand market for them is so strong. Gucci from both recent seasons and archive years. Prada saffiano and nylon. And Celine, Saint Laurent, Dior, Givenchy — all priced at up to 70% below retail, based on condition and current demand rather than a flat markdown.
Pre-owned designer bags are one of the smarter fashion buys out there, particularly at the top end. Chanel increases retail prices year on year, which means pre-loved pieces don't depreciate the way most things in fashion do. Hermès bags are effectively commodities — condition and authenticity are what matters, not whether it came from a boutique. When you buy from a properly authenticated source, you're not compromising on anything except the price tag.
Both our shops stock handbags. The Marylebone Lane boutique holds our largest selection and is where most new arrivals land first. Our Notting Hill shop on Ledbury Road carries a more curated edit. If you have something specific in mind, it's worth calling ahead — stock moves quickly, and nothing's more frustrating than making the trip for something that sold yesterday.
We also buy. If you have a preloved designer bag to sell — a Mulberry satchel, a Chanel flap, a Birkin you no longer reach for — bring it in for a free valuation at either store, or use our online selling form. We make straightforward offers based on brand, condition and current market demand.
