Who is Issey Miyake?
Issey Miyake is a Japanese designer brand built on the Miyake Design Studio, which the designer Issey Miyake established in 1970. Born in Hiroshima, Japan, in 1938, he moved to Paris in 1965, and the house says he presented his first collection in 1971. The Issey Miyake style centres on a piece of cloth and the space between the body and the fabric, free of Western or Eastern dress conventions. In 1998 Issey Miyake began A-POC, short for A Piece Of Cloth, with Dai Fujiwara. Designer Satoshi Kondo has directed the brand since 2020.
Issey Miyake Pleats Please, Homme Plissé and Bao Bao
Pleats Please Issey Miyake launched in 1993 with garment pleating, a process in which the garments are sewn first and pleated afterwards. The V&A holds a black Pleats Please Issey Miyake dress and Madame-T stole in pleated polyester from 2001. Homme Plissé Issey Miyake, launched in 2013, brings the same garment pleating to menswear. Bao Bao Issey Miyake became an independent brand in 2010, making bags from compositions of triangles; its Lucent series uses isosceles right triangle pieces, and the Prism series uses pieces about half that size. The CSD catalogue has also carried Me Issey Miyake tops and a Fête midi plissé skirt.
Pleats Please second hand and vintage
Pleats Please second hand pieces at CSD come from private owners, and Pleats Please pre-owned or Pleats Please used finds go through the same in-house check as the rest of the label. Pleats Please vintage or not, our team inspects every garment in-house ahead of listing. For Pleats Please in London, our Marylebone Lane store is the address, and every Pleats Please pre-owned listing online gives its condition, its label and its UK size. For Issey Miyake Pleats Please second hand or Pleats Please vintage, each card on the grid names the estimated retail figure and the percentage saved.
Issey Miyake bags, dresses, trousers and tops
Issey Miyake clothes in the CSD catalogue have included pleated dresses, pleated trousers and pleated tops. Issey Miyake shirts and an Issey Miyake coat have also appeared, alongside cardigans and jackets. Pleats Please Issey Miyake dresses have included V-neck, tent and midi shapes, and Pleats Please Issey Miyake trousers have come in wide leg, culotte and straight cuts. Pleats Please Issey Miyake tops have included round neck, square neck and sleeveless styles, and a Pleats Please maxi skirt has also appeared. Issey Miyake bags at CSD have included Bao Bao totes, a Pleats Please tote bag and a Pleats Please handbag. The catalogue has also carried an Issey Miyake dress and scarf set, a pleated shawl and Issey Miyake shoes in the form of slip-on trainers. Our dresses, trousers and tote bags pages set Issey Miyake clothing beside other designers, and pleated skirts gathers pleats from every label.
Pleats Please size guide
The Pleats Please size guide from Issey Miyake runs from size 1 to size 5 and is based on garment length, with 1 the shortest and 5 the longest. The house notes only a minor change in width between sizes and suggests choosing by height: its guide starts at 150 to 155 cm for size 1 and ends at 171 to 175 cm for size 5. Trousers and skirts are designed to sit at the natural waist. Each Issey Miyake listing at CSD shows the condition, the label and the UK size.
How to wash Pleats Please?
Pleats Please Issey Miyake can go in the washing machine, as the house describes the pieces as lightweight, easy to wear and machine-washable. The Met explains that garment pleating sets the pleats for good, so Pleats Please Issey Miyake can be washed and dried without losing its shape.
Where can I find genuine Issey Miyake on sale?
A genuine Issey Miyake on sale at CSD means a pre-owned piece from a private consignor, checked in-house by our staff before listing. Our authentication page sets out that check. Issey Miyake resale at CSD replaces a markdown, so an Issey Miyake sale here means pre-owned pieces priced below the estimated retail price printed on each card. The catalogue has also carried Homme Plissé waistcoat and trousers listings. Any Issey Miyake pre owned women's sale or Issey Miyake pre-owned men's piece, Homme Plissé sale pieces included, shows the estimated retail figure and your saving on its card. On an Issey Miyake UK sale order, delivery costs nothing over £300 and Issey Miyake on sale here also ships worldwide. Issey Miyake Pleats Please sale pieces follow the same rule, so a Pleats Please sale at CSD always shows the saving against the estimated retail price. Issey Miyake second hand or vintage Issey Miyake, the CSD team has it checked in-house before listing.
