Is Etro a good brand?

Yes, by the house's own account: it says it gained fame almost immediately for its quality products and refined prints. Etro is an Italian fashion house founded by Gimmo Etro as a textile company in Milan in 1968. The Milanese label began with fabrics inspired by its founders' collection of antique shawls, and its Milan headquarters contain the Paisley textile archive.

Where is Etro made?

Etro is made in Italy: the house is proud of its made in Italy status and still resides in its original Milanese headquarters. Etro is a Milan house, based at Via Spartaco in Milan, and it creates and produces men's and women's clothing collections alongside accessories.

Who owns Etro?

In 2021 the house agreed a deal giving L Catterton Europe a majority stake, with the founding Etro family retaining what the trade press called a significant minority.

Etro Vela bag, Paisley and Pegaso

The Etro Vela bag, designed by Marco De Vincenzo, is cut in calfskin with an aerodynamic shape that evokes a sail and closes with a V fastening on a jointed zip. Etro Paisley, introduced by Gerolamo Etro in 1981, is a drop pattern of Indian origin that has become the signature design of the house. Pegaso, the winged horse of the Etro logo, appears embossed or embroidered on outerwear, bags and belts.
