Who owns Tod's?

Tod's was taken off the Milan stock exchange after a 2024 tender offer, and trade reports describe a planned split that leaves the Della Valle family with the largest share. Tod's is an Italian house, officially named Tod's in 1997 according to its timeline, that grew out of a cobbler's workshop Filippo Della Valle opened in a small town in the Marche region of central Italy. His son Dorino turned that workshop into a small company with skilled artisans making women's footwear, and Diego Della Valle officially joined it in 1975.

Tod's Gommino driving shoes

The Gommino is the house's driving shoe: a light, flat and soft loafer, stitched entirely by hand, with small rubber pebbles called gommini set into the sole. The house traces it to a shoe worn by drivers that Diego Della Valle spotted on a trip to the United States. Next comes the Wave Bag, cut from soft calfskin with a zip hidden under the front strap and the monogram embroidered at its centre. The Di Bag, which Tod's calls its most iconic bag, has central ribbing and tubular handles, and our listings name it the D-Bag.
